Walker Éireann

Walker Éireann, the new Irish language imprint of Walker Books will be launched this week with a selection of classic favourite picturebooks and modern international bestsellers - all beautifully translated by Gabriel Rosenstock.
Booksellers all over Ireland have pledged to use these books to form the basis of a permanent Irish language section in their childrens departments.

"Reading a story to a young child in Irish is one of the most enjoyable and simple ways to introduce them to the rich heritage of the language. This September, for the first time, Walker Éireann brings you four of our best picturebooks created by some of Ireland’s foremost book makers, in Irish.
Walker Books has always loved working with bright and brilliant Irish authors and illustrators. Martin Waddell, Sam McBratney, Chris Haughton and Niamh Sharkey create children’s books with heart and their words leap off the page with warmth and humour. Walker Éireann is both a way to celebrate their work and to build the perfect Irish language library for little ones.
So, simply pick up a book and sit with your child − let them get lost in the world of Ar Strae Beagán, know the worry and the delight of the three owl babies, laugh and stomp about with Stiúcai Stiúgtha and, along with Giorria Donn Óg, let them tell you how much they love you . . . in a language that will, very soon, belong to them.”  Deirdre McDermot  Walker Books' Picturebook Publisher
